On Sunday, March 26, 2023, British Airways’ inaugural flight BA2157 departed London Gatwick (LGW) at 10:00 AM and touched down at Aruba’s Queen Beatrix International Airport (AUA) at 5:00 PM local time.

The brand-new route will operate twice weekly via Antigua on Thursdays and Sundays. The new service operates on a Boeing 777-200 aircraft.

This new service will complement the already existing UK service to Aruba via TUI, which is seasonal, while British Airways’ service is offered year-round.

The ever-popular Red Sky at Night, which showcases the wide array of artistic talent in Cayman, returns this weekend.

As usual, the Cayman National Cultural Foundation-hosted multidisciplinary arts festival will highlight the work of local musicians and performers across four stages, and feature the work of dozens of fine artists, artisans and traditional food vendors.

This year, Red Sky at Night will take place on Saturday, 15 April, from 2pm until 11pm on the grounds of the Harquail Theatre on Lawrence Boulevard.

Starting April 8, St. Thomas Carnival will kick into high gear with the theme “Illuminating our Culture for the World to See, St. Thomas Carnival 2023,” reflecting the pride and joy the presenters have in their heritage and celebrations, the V.I. Tourism Department announced Wednesday.

“Carnival season on St. Thomas is such a wonderful time of year. It allows us to showcase our culture, including our music, delicious food, history, design, and creativity. It dovetails perfectly with our tourism marketing campaign, ‘naturally in rhythm’ that highlights our authentic Caribbean experiences and culture,” said Tourism Commissioner Joseph Boschulte in announcing the schedule for the festivities.

There’s a mural over the bar here by artist Michael Lester. It’s called Junkanoo, and it’s a vibrant, loud, pulsing depiction of Jamaica’s timeless, percussive dance.

The bar itself, named for Lester, is a celebration of the Caribbean rum tradition, with an exquisite selection of artisanal rum expressions from around the Caribbean Basin. 

In just a few years, the rum bar at Jamaica’s iconic Half Moon resort vaulted into the pantheon of Caribbean rum bars, attracting connoisseurs and beginning the rum adventure for countless more visitors.
