The head of the Inter-American Development Bank Group (IDB) believes Jamaica will become the region’s first digital society.

Luis Alberto Moreno expressed that view as the Jamaica Government took strategic steps to strengthen the foundation for the creation of a digital society, with the signing of a package of loan operations from the IDB.

Cayman Islands — Following 2017’s record-breaking year for air and cruise arrivals into the Cayman Islands, arrivals for 2018 are off to a record-breaking start.

A total of 39,185 stay-over visitors were recorded for the month of January, an increase of 23.87 percent over 2017. This represents the best January in recorded arrivals history and is the eighth consecutive month (June 2017 through January 2018) that the Cayman Islands has had record-breaking growth.

The 23.87 percent growth is the highest percent growth increase for a January in 12 years and is 13.9 percent higher than January 2015, the previous highest January in recorded history.

The St Kitts and Nevis citizenship by investment (CBI) programme has released a final reminder to those interested in investing in second citizenship under the temporarily reduced investment module – the Hurricane Relief Fund – scheduled to end on 30 March 2018.

Established after a challenging hurricane season, the Hurricane Relief Fund was announced as a temporary option for prospective citizens around the world, who wish to invest in the world’s oldest economic citizenship programme.
