Downtown Cabarete, located on the northern edge of the Dominican Republic, has transformed into a vibrant and diverse town. With its health food restaurants, waffle cafes, and spinning studios, it resembles Silicon Valley in the Caribbean. However, long before the town became a hotspot for tourists and digital nomads, the land belonged to Carolina Sims, an Afro-Dominican woman and the daughter of an enslaved mother.
